Stephanie Birkitt was described as one of the persons participating in the David Letterman extortion plot.

Birkitt, Letterman’s past helper who had various appearances on the “Late Show,” lived with alleged blackmailer Robert “Joe” Halderman, who “was in ownership of Birkitt’s diary, correspondence and pictures — which he says inculpated Letterman,” reported TMZ.

Informants tell TMZ that Letterman and Birkitt had a erotic relationship that finished before 2003, the year in which his son Harry was born.

Sources tell RadarOnline.com that “Birkitt and Letterman slept together for a period of time before he married his girlfriend Regina had their son Harry” and that Birkitt is allegedly “mortified Halderman is using her fling with Letterman to blackmail her boss.”

But who is Stephanie Birkitt?

She graduated of Wake Forest University in 1997 who interned in the writers’ area at the “Late Show” in 1996. a stint at “48 Hours” — incidentally, where Halderman operated as a producer — Birkitt got back to the “Late Show.”

After a occupation as producer, Birkitt applied to be Letterman’s assistant.

“I heard there was a job in Dave’s office opening up and I applied, because I didn’t think I was much of a news hound, as it was a little too serious for my personality,” she told the New Hampshire Union Leader in 2004.

Letterman apologizes for the jokes he made about Sarah Palin and her daughters, again. Last night he dedicated several minutes of the show to apologize to Sarah, Willow and Bristol Palin.

He admitted that this was a joke of bad taste:

“a bad joke. I told a joke that was beyond flawed, and my intent is completely meaningless compared to the perception. And since it was a joke I told, I feel that I need to do the right thing here and apologize for having told that joke. It’s not your fault that it was misunderstood, it’s my fault. That it was misunderstood.”

He added:

“So I would like to apologize, especially to the two daughters involved, Bristol and Willow, and also to the governor and her family and everybody else who was outraged by the joke.  I’m sorry about it and I’ll try to do better in the future.  Thank you very much.”

But to Palin supporters, especially the ones who invested in firedavidleterman.com website, this is not enough.  They want to see at least a suspension after the David Letterman Sarah Palin joke.

As you may know this started as a joke, where Letterman joked that Palin’s daughter got “knocked up by A-Rod”, he didn’t mention which daughter, but Sarah Palin is sure, this is about Willow, her 14-year-old daughter.

The creators of the site want to make it viral, and even have a list of things to help them.

Many people join for a cause! That’s great! But… to fire David Letterman.  Aren’t there more important issues in the World worth rallying for? This is just getting ridiculous.

Letterman said he was referring to Bristol Palin, but Sarah Palin is angry because she is sure he referred to her 14-year-old-daughter Willow.

Plain on NBC’s Today Show went further with her accusations saying that Letterman contributed to the “acceptance of abuse of young women” and calling on people to “start really rising up.”.
