Hoki Fish (PICTURE)

The Hoki fish has gotten popular today after it has been found this is what we eat every time we eat a Filet-O-Fish. This ugly fish is one of New Zealand’s major exports and also a rising star in the McDonald’s menu. Check out the Hoki fish picture.

So, okay, the Hoki fish looks ugly, but who cares? Almost every fish is ugly! The fish is also used to prepare sushi and has become an alternative to other popular types of fish such as tuna and red snapper.

Beyond these trivial matters, we know that there might be a problem of overfishing in New Zealand, and this of course has environmental agencies worried. New Zealand has not spoken about any overfishing problem but has cut down the allowed catch.

AeroMexico Jet Hijacked!

There’s big tensions in Mexico City after an AeroMexico plane was hijacked today. According to one of the passengers, Adriana Romero, all the passengers have been freed and only the crew of the plane remains on board.

The incident took place on AeroMexico flight 576, from a Cancun to Mexico flight. The airplane is located on the airway of Mexico City’s airport. According to major Mexican networks, the plane was hijacked by three Bolivian citizens who want to speak with President Felipe Calderon.

Hurricane Jimena Path

The Hurricane Jimena path is projected to hit Mexico tonight! The hurricane, although with less strength, is still considered Category 4.  All evacuation is underway, including the town and resorts, as it is expected to hit Mexico and Baja California.  Let’s hope the strength declines more…

Maximum winds are reported at 145mph, and is “extremely dangerous” according to experts who also are pretty sure the hurricane won’t get to the Category 5.

The truth is nobody knows how destructive will be the Hurricane Jimena track until it reaches land.  For instance some are saying after seeing Hurrican Jimena satellite pictures,  that it won’t be affecting Cabo San Lucas, only rain and wind will be present.

Eraño Manalo, Head of Iglesia Ni Cristo Dies

Today, Eraño Manalo, head of the Iglesia Ni Cristo of Philippines died in his home. The news was delivered by one of the religious group’s officials, Bienvenido Santiago, through the television network Net 25.

Manalo passed away at 3:53pm of cardiopulmonary arrest, he was 84 years old. This is what Santiago said:

“Hinihiling namin na patnubayan ang buong Iglesia sa panahon ng matinding dalamhati (We request that the entire Church be guided during this time of severe grief),”

A public wake for Eraño Manalo is set for tomorrow, Tuesday.  If you haven’t heard about the Iglesia Ni Cristo, it is a religious group but also a strong political force, during elections they vote as a bloc.

Tropical Storm Danny Forms

Tropical Storm Danny has formed in the Atlantic, and weather specialists say this storm could gain strength as it approaches the U.S. According to recent updates, the storm is expected to reach the U.S. East coast by the weekend.

Tropical Strom Danny has top winds of 45mph and is moving to the west / northwest at 18mph.

Tropical Strom Ignacio has weakened now. Stay tuned for more updates on the Tropical storm Danny status.

Tropical Storm Ana 2009!

Specialists have warned that Tropical Storm Ana has formed over the Atlantic. This tropical storm could affect parts of the Leeward Islands by Monday!

The storm is moving to the west at 16 mph, and it can gain strength as it approaches Leeward Islands.

Laura Ling Husband

Laura Ling husband Iain Clayton was perhaps one of the most happy people today in the World after he saw his wife arrive to USA safe and sound.  Today Laura Ling and Euna Lee arrived the country after being freed.

He expressed his gratitude to Bill Clinton:

“I’m extremely grateful for him, obviously for President Obama as well as Secretary Clinton, and for Vice President Al Gore as well. I can’t wait. It’s been about 140 days and so we, you know, we are obviously overjoyed that she’s going to be back here.”

Today, a new eclipse will take place, this time, it is a full moon lunar eclipse.  The exact time of the event will be 8:55pm EST. The eclipse will be at 13 degrees of Aquarius, and you will be able to see it if you are in USA!

Great Pacific Garbage Patch PICTURES

Here you can find Great Pacific Garbage Patch pictures; this Great Pacific Garbage Patch is a moving big patch of plastic and debris that is floating in the North Pacific. This great garbage patch is being moved by the North Pacific Ocean gyre.

Groups of Claifornia scientist have set sail to study the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, since little Is known about this.  Photos from satellite and aircraft cannot distinguish the small items and particles of plastic.

Pneumonic Plague China

The BBC reports that the pneumonic plague is spreading in China, and the second death related to this disease has taken place in north-west China. The man was 32 and the town is Ziketan.

This is a remote part of China, inhabited mostly by Tibetan people. In order to prevent further spreading of the plague, the town of Ziketan has been sealed off, with all its 10,000 residents. It seems that inside town are other 10 people infected still alive.

Pneumonic plague symptoms include headache, shortness of breath and fever. We’ll keep you updated with more information about China’s pneumonic plague.

Bedouins | Scott Speicher

After the investigations and findings in the case of Scott Speicher, it became known Bedouins buried his body shortly after his plane was shot down by enemy fire.

Bedouins are an Arab ethnic group, the “desert dwellers”. Bedouins area ccustomed to live in the desert and are always on the move.  For centuries, they have learned how to endure the harsh climate of the desert. Bedouins are mainly spread throughout the desert bell.

Last week finally Speicher’s remains were identified, putting an end to a long-time search.

Robot Attacks Man!

It seems the times depicted in the Terminator and Matrix films is coming! There are news that a man was attacked by a robot in a factory.  The reports say that the man unplugged the robot but when he approached the robot suddenly came back to life and grabbed his head, injuring him seriously.

This occurred on Sweden in 2007, but is recently being made public after the company was forced to pay a $3000 fine.
