What is Google Wave?

What is Google Wave? Google Wave is a new preview application developed by Google and shown today at the Google I/O Conference. ON Google Wave’s page, we can see the following explanation:

Google Wave is a new tool for communication and collaboration on the web, coming later this year.

Hmm this sounds unclear… According to PC Mag:

Think of an open-source version of Gmail constructed via instant messaging. To start a wave, two users start what is essentially an instant-message session, which can be archived as a conversation. Other users can then be invited to join each wave or conversation, and there’s even a “playback” feature to track the process of the conversation. Google also said it intends Wave to be a platform as well as a protocol, with the appropriate tools and extensions for each.

Pretty interesting, director of the project Lars Rasmussen, hopes developers start using the API at full and start experimenting with this new Google project.  Right now the site is live but access is restricted.

Conficker Eyechart

Remember the Conficker or April 1st Virus? According to some security experts this virus entered many computers and was set out to crash the Internet.  Of course, this didn’t happen, but now we are seeing another face of the Conficker worm.

The virus reportedly, is back, and infected computers are an easy target to the stealing of sensitive information by exploiting a hole in Windows - Mac users are not affected.

Luckily, you can know if your computer is infected by testing it with the Conficker Eye Chart or Conficker Eyechart.  If you can see all the 6 logos it means that your computer is fine.  The page is pretty self explanatory, and you will get to know which variant of the Conficker worm has infected your computer.

50 Dollar Computer Offered by AT&T

50 Dollar Computer - Some years ago, the notion of buying a computer for only $50 seem like an idea extracted from science fiction on a distant future, but thanks to the advances of technology, the first $50 computers are being offered to the public.

The lucky people who can buy a 50 dollar computer can find them on Philadelphia and Atlanta.  These inexpensive laptops are offered by AT&T and you can get them if you sign up for two years of Internet connection.

These new smaller laptops or netbooks are becoming increasingly popular.  They are very portable, easy to use and contains enough programs for the vast majority of users.  I have one right here and is one of the best tools I have.

The 50 dollar computer model is something completely new as C-NET-TV says:

“This is something new in the united states. I mean, we’ve seen this with the cell phone model: Pay for the service, get a free cell phone, but with laptops, this is new,” “It’s phenomenal. It’s an awesome opportunity, especially for people who don’t necessarily have a laptop and could use one”

Those were the news on the 50 dollar computer.

April 1st Virus: Conficker or Conflicker?

April 1st virus - We’ve posted before about the April 1st virus, and it seems that the date is just around the corner. Many people are searching for the name of the virus. It is Conficker not Conflicker, but well it doesn’t really matters too much, especially because of the consequences it might bring.

April 1st Virus

Many people are wondering how to protect their computers from the April 1st virus (or Conficker, or Downadup). This is a virus transmitted on peer-to-peer networks, so in the hours you have left you better avoid downloading through these networks. Your computer will be behaving normally until the activation date.

To ensure you don’t have any problems you can use F-Secure scanner and cleaner, which they provide for free to help people with this problem.

Conficker or Conflicker

If you are on a Mac or Linux based machine you don’t have to worry as this April 1st virus only infects Windows based machines.

There you go start scanning and avoid downloading stuff from p2p networks.

Those were the latest news on the April 1st virus.

Sending a Fax Thorugh the Internet

Many people fail to see that the Internet can really speed up our communications.  Take faxing for example, it used to be slow, and unreliable.  those old fax amchines printed unreadable information, but all that changed thanks to fax to email software.

This software is capable of converting your email attachments to fax-ready documents that can be printed on any fax machine or received by other internet fax users.

There are many companies out there that offer these programs, I suggest you do your research beacuse your required program will vary according to your sepcial needs.  For example, if you have abig business you might do better with a solution that contains a lot of features, features that are useless to a small biz or an individual.
