New Moon Opening Night Sales

The New Moon opening night sales have been record breaking! After many months of teasers, marketing ideas and a huge base of blood-thirsty fans, it was now time to check how well it went in the box office.

Twilight: New Moon made $26.27 million in sales made in 3,154 theaters. The previous record was held by the Harry Potter saga: “Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince” with $22.2 million dollars!

Could it break the one day record of the Dark Knight? ($67.1 million?) It seems it will easily get to that figure!

Mickey Mouse Birthday!

Today, November 18, is the birthday of Mickey Mouse, perhaps the most popular cartoon character of all time and the image of Disney. He was born on 1928 so today he turns 81!

This same day in 1928, Steamboat Willie was released along with synchronized sound. You may have seen the short movie in which Mickey appears in black an white. Over the time his appearance would change.

There will be a special exhibition at the Walt Disney Family Museum with the earliest drawings of Mickey Mouse, vintage merchandise and many more.

Kate Plus 8 New Show!

After many speculations, tabloid stories, and online discussion, we learn today that “Kate & Jon Plus 8″ will be now the show “Kate Plus 8″. Many of us saw it coming, although I would have loved the show to be named “Kate Plus 8 Minus Jon!”

TLC said the show will get a new name “Kate Plus 8″, starting on November.  It seems like Kate doesn’t want to give up her “career” as a reality TV star.

“Given the recent changes in the family dynamics, it only makes sense for us to refresh and recalibrate the program to keep pace with the family,” TLC president Eileen O’Neill said in a statement. “The family has evolved and we are attempting to evolve with it; we feel that Kate’s journey really resonates with our viewers.”

Now the question is “Will Jon get his own show?”. Maybe a spin-off of the original show is under way, we’ll keep you updated!

Mackenzie Phillips | John Phillips Mamas and The Papas (VIDEO)

Mackenzie Phillips, daughter of John Phillips from the Mamas and the Papas and former child star, has spoken to US Magazine about her life growing up, and she has revealed that John Phillips sexually abused her and he was the one who introduced her to cocaine.

Mackenzie Phillips also appeared on “the Oprah Winfrey Show” talking about these serious topics that will appear on an upcoming autobiographic book.  Mackenzie has had a long history with drug abuse, and in 2008 she pleaded guilty for cocaine possession.

She said she has been living with this terrible secret for around 31 years. One of the things she says in her book:

“My father was not a man with boundaries. He was full of love, and he was sick with drugs. I woke up that night from a blackout to find myself having sex with my own father.”

Chynna Phillips, Mackenzie’s sister also spoke to Us Magazine, and she has said that well… she told her this secret 12 years ago and she kept it since.

Janet Jackson performance was greatly expected at the 2009 VMAs. As a tribute to her brother, Michael Jackson, she performed the song “Scream” in which the both dance and sing. Previously, Madonna had spoken about Michael and the relationship between the two. She said:

“Yes, Michael Jackson was a human being but he was a king. Long live the king!”

Janet Jackson was accompained by Miachael’s dancers and she gave it all in a tribute that made us remember how great Michael was.

New Moon Trailer 3 Leaked | New Moon 3rd Trailer

The New Moon Trailer 3 is supposed to be released at the VMAs, but just like it has been happening for some years now, the trailer has first leaked on the Web. This time, people responsible of the movie copyrights have acted pretty quickly taking every copy down on Youtube. It may be still possible to find it online but only for some hours/minutes. Unfortunately we cannot post a link to the New Moon Trailer 3 leaked since right now copies are offline.

I don’t understand why can’t people wait one day. After all a new trailer isn’t going to reveal so much. Twilight has influenced the media and authors. The Vampire Diaries is now on TV, a new teen drama series based on vampires also.

Ellen Degeneres, New American Idol Judge

The famous actress, comedian and talk show hostess, Ellen Degeneres as surprised her audience and the USA revealing that she will be the new American Idol judge, replacing long-time judge Paula Abdul.

She revealed this during a sequence of her show. In a press release she added:

“I’m thrilled to be the new judge on American Idol. I’ve watched since the beginning, and I’ve always been a huge fan. So getting this job is a dream come true, and think of all the money I’ll save from not having to text in my vote.”

Ellen Degeneres American Idol participation as one of the judges is very expected by followers of the show.  What do you think, was this a wise decision by producers?

Disney BUYS Marvel!

Disney Buys Marvel! Yes, today The Walt Disney Co. announced that there is an agreement to acquire Marvel Entertainment for $4 billion! Disney President and Chief Executive said:

“We believe that adding Marvel to Disney’s unique portfolio of brands provides significant opportunities for long-term growth and value creation,”

This way, Disney gets access to the whole catalogue of characters in the Marvel Universe (around 5k!).  Will Disney be able to take advantage of it? Marvel could benefit from the experience of Disney in cinema and TV.  What do you think?

Daytime Emmy Awards 2009 Winners (PHOTOS)

Yesterday it was time for 2009’s Daytime Emmy Awards. The show was held at the Orpheum Theatre in LA.  The results were surprising for many people.  The biggest winner of the night was the show “The Brave and the Bold”, but the acceptance speech was cut out by CW! At 10 pm the stopped broadcasting the awards ceremony!

Other Daytime Emmy Awards results include many new names like Susan Haskell, Tamara Brown and Darin Brooks.

More activities planned for Michael Jackson birthday today! Brooklyn is the place to go if you are a fan of MJ and are in New York.  There will be a Michael Jackson Prospect Park block party, celebrating the 51 years of his birth!

Organizers are expecting around 10,000 attending the celebration.  Well as a matter of fact they just expected 2,000 at first but it seems this party became very popular, so they moved from Fort Greene Park to Prospect Park.

If you are planning to go by, know that there is expected a large crowd, there is a warning for subway riders.

Jeff Hardy Leaves WWE

Jeff Hardy Leaves WWE! The news has leaked on the Web, and the announcement is expected to be released Monday at Raw. He basically quits as a loser, after losing his match against CM Punk - I’m not saying this as a comment, this was in fact a Loser Leaves match!

Jeff Hardy has kept his word, even if that means no more being in the payroll of the most famous wrestling federation in the World. It seems the news of Jeff Hardy leaving WWE has not been well received by McMahon and the network.
