Toyota Motor Corp. announced today that the Prius will be recalled after a California acceleration incident. Many cars will head back to Toyota to avoid floor mats pinning down the gas pedal. The incident in California involved a 61-years-old man named James Sikes, who couldn’t stop the car from accelerating near san Diego. He called 911, when he was racing at 90 mph!

“I pushed the gas pedal to pass a car and it did something kind of funny … it jumped and it just stuck there,” Mr. Sikes said at a news conference, according to the Associated Press. “I was trying the brakes … it wasn’t stopping, it wasn’t doing anything and it just kept speeding up,” Mr. Sikes said, adding he could smell the brakes burning.
Luckily Mr.Sikes was able to stop the car with the help of a California Highway Patrol officer. The Prius recall hasn’t been officially issued yet because Mr. Lyons, a Toyota spokesman said they haven’t developed a remedy yet.
Are they waiting for deaths to occur? Those were the latest news on the Prius recall.
