Obama signed today the Travel Promotion Act, which is an effort to promote this industry that has been hit by the economy. The Act looks to promote jobs in the sector and also attract foreign visitors to the US.

The act was passed by the senate last week, and this effort will be funded by a $10 fee on travelers from countries that don’t require a visa to visit USA, as well as donations from the tourist industry players. If you are worried about more taxes, know this won’t be funded with taxpayer money.

“Anything that can stimulate tourism, revenue increases and jobs is a tremendous breakthrough,” said Americas President at Intercontinental Hotels Group, Jim Abrahamson. With this effort of the Travel Promotion act, it is expected to attract 1.6 million people from around the World who otherwise won’t travel to USA.
