Erich Kunzel Dies
Erich Kunzel, director of the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra, has died today at his home in Swans Island, Maine. Erich Kunzel had been suffering from cancer for some time, this was a cancer that involved pancreas, liver and colon.

Trey Devey, president of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, pronounced about Erich Kunzel’s death:
“The world has lost a musical giant, and we have lost a dear friend,”
Erich Kunzel took the lead of the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra back in 1977 and performed in big places like the Radio City Music Hall, the Carnegie Hall, The Blossom Music Festival and the Grand Ol’ Opry. Erich Kunzel died and is survived by his wife Brunhilde.
There are scheduled concerts that won’t be cancelled, but will be go on with guest conductors. On http://www.cincinnatipops.org/ there is a page in his honor.
