Giant Jellyfish | Nomura Jellyfish
Like a scene taken from a sci-fi B-Movie, a giant jelly fish is causing terror on the coasts of Japan. This giant Jellyfish is actually called Nomura Jellyfish, and it is a species that can grow up to 6 feet in diameter!

Japanese fishermen and villagers are first eye witnesses of the devastation these large creatures bring. Right now they are expecting a huge wave of Nomura jellyfish on the coasts, as they have experiences in 2005 and 2007. On those years the jellyfish destroyed their nets when they became trapped in them.

According to an expert:
“Communities of fishermen and these fishing villages own these nets, when these nets get wiped out, it actually has this economic devastation for an entire community.”
Japan has currently implemented a warning system for Japanese fishermen to minimize damage from the giant jellyfish.
