Connie Culp Face Transplant Pictures

Face Transplant Pictures - Connie Culp has become the first person in the World to have a full face transplant. This has to be done after she had to live a very sad story.

Connie was shot by her husband, who also shot himself afterwards, but both of them survived. He, Thomas Culp went to jail for seven years, and she had to suffer severe deformity after she lost bone structure in the face. You can see how Connie Culp looked like before the accident on this picture:

She lost her nose and needed tracheotomy to be able to breathe. Even undergoing many surgeries to reconstruct her face didn’t helped her much, until she was introduced the option of a face transplant. Below you can see Connie’s face after the shooting and face transplant pictures.

This was not easy surgery, as it wasn’t done before. The whole procedure took 22 hours to complete and doctors had to remove bone structure, and even facial muscles and nerves to attach the donor’s face! After the surgery she still not able to move muscles and show emotion, but this will change after the nerves regenerate. But the best thing is that she no longer feels pain, which was ever present before the surgery.

Of course, she doesn’t have a “perfect face” now, but she is looking immensely better and healthier now than before. Addressing to the press she said:

“Well, I guess I’m the one you came to see today. While I know you all want to focus on me, I think it’s more important you focus on the donor family that made it so I could have this Christmas present, I guess I should say.”
