To Whom It May Concern:

I feel that this is another case of someone being persecuted because of a few people being unable to control their children’s use of the internet. It is that simple. Playboy’s website is only intended for users that have reached the age of majority, so those photos should not be seen by anyone that is in grade school. The only way that these photos could be seen by children is by these “innocent” child lying about their age to gain access. to the website

The law says that people can’t go into court with dirty hands and expect the courts to make their conspirators liable for an illegal act. Like the drug user taking his dealer to court because he didn’t get the quanity or quality of his purchase.

This is exactly the same thing that is happening here, and the parents’ inability to take the necessary and reasonable measures to keep adult material away from their children is the crime here. These parents are the problem, not the woman who did a totally legal photo shoot that was published in a legal way with the necessary controls to keep underage people from seeing their wares.

Shame on those parents for taking away that woman’s way of earning a living because of their inept and pathetic parenting. Shame Shame Shame!

As an adult male, I think she is absolutely gorgeous, and a great centerfold for the Magazine. However, as a parent, I think the firing was completely legitimate. She believes there is a difference between “Porn”, and “Posing nude.”

Ican’t believe she wouldn’t have known she’d be fired for this very stupid choice.

I find it remarkable just how much people can miss what seems to me a perfectly obvious point, mainly by misguided attempts at using half-baked legalisms. I’m speaking as a former teacher myself. Guess, what: it’s not about what’s “legal,” or what was or wasn’t in her contract. The operative term here is ROLE MODEL!
Let me present the hypothetical case of a male teacher who is a notorious womanizer, a heavy drinker, or someone addicted to serious gambling at the race track. These activities are all perfectly legal, and they are all perfectly legitimate reasons for him to be terminated as a teacher. Ethical conduct is NOT the same thing as merely technically obeying the law. Think about the word “teacher” — someone who is held up an an exemplary individual, someone to emulate. It’s not just a matter of how well she teaches cheerleading (or math or English, for that matter), or whether or not her students like her. Teachers are considered surrogate parents (the legal phrase is loco parentis), and in fact, it’s the same with parents — just because a father is legally allowed to drink, gamble or run around on his wife doesn’t mean it’s the right thing to do where his kids are concerned.
Missy Carlie had a choice to make — she could be a professional hottie or a professional teacher; the two are mutually incompatible, and she has to accept the consequences of her choice. I’m not saying I blame her: she looks great without clothis on, and adult models certainly make a whole lot more money that K-12 teachers.
Oh … and whether or not various mothers are overweight or bitter about their daughters not making the squad, or whether various fathers (or their underage sons) are looking at Carlie’s pics, is all perfectly irrelevant to the question of whether someone who is essentially the photographic equivalent of a professional stripper ought to be help up as (and paid for being) a role model for impressionable young girls.
