The story of Ken Karpman is an amazing one: he went from CEO to Pizza Man, from making $750,000 a year to living on food tickets. Impossible? Not, I’ve seen many people like him, however the audience always want to feel better than another person right?

He’s story is a failure story that stems from the current crisis. In 2005 as an effort to make more money, he tried to set up his own hedge fund with equity in his house and everything just came down quickly after the markets went to hell.

Now Ken Karpman, from CEO to Pizza Man, makes $7.50 an hour plus tips. His story was made public by ABC news, and I have to say this guy is tough. Many people out there would have resorted to a life of drugs in poverty or simply suicide. The good thing is that he stood up again- even if this meant swallowing his pride.
Those were the news about Ken Karpman.

Bad, greedy and dumb choices by Karpman equals the mess he finds himself in. It is a shame he put his family through that. No one to blame, only themselves. They have not made a mortage payment in 2 years! What! This country has gone crazy. I, in no way, feel sorry for someone that obviously makes bad decisions. He should have kept his 750k job. duh! Does he really expect us to feel sorry for him. Or do the people at 20/20 expect us to feel sorry him? No one I have talked to feels sorry for them!
Ok, this really begs the question “Who cares”? I mean, really. Is this who we are supposed to feel sorry for? Someone who did something really stupid to piss away his own riches? Is this supposed to represent “the average American”? Come on, ABC. You have GOT to do better than this! I can not feel sorry for someone just because they can no longer afford to go to Aspen and eat out every week while they live in a million dollar house. Get a grip! There are people out there, REAL PEOPLE, who truly know the meaning of hardship and this isn’t it!
it’s gotta take a truckload of humility for this guy to take on that pizza delivery gig
fantastic story, it is great to see people who seek self sufficiency in difficult circumstances,
and the determination to “work through it”
So impressed with both Karpmans. They will weather the storm just fine and rise to new heights. Ken will have a successful career,
and they will both have the benefit of a new outlook. WE SHOULD ALL BE SO FORTUNATE, you just can’t buy those types of life assets.
GO KARPMANS!!!
Michelle:
Thanks for the great comment. I couldn’t put it better! And to those who took this opportunity to call the man greedy and dumb, well I feel sorry for you. Of course he made a poor decision, hindsight is 20/20 (pun intended). But it’s the people who take risks that you feed off of, the Henry Fords, the Wright Brothers. the pioneers, inventors and Gilded Age Capitalists, that bet the farm and won. Its because of them that you HAVE A JOB! Remember that. Karpman is no Carnegie but the principal is the same, he’s one to be admired.
