Obama is Time Person of the Year 2008 | Time Magazine

Unsurprisingly to many, Barack Obama has been name Time Person of the Year 2008. The new edition of the online version of magazine containing the person of the year also shows as Barack Obama’s previously unseen photos from his days as a student at Occidental College.

Why was he elected as Time person of the year 2008? While to millions of people around the World, this may seem obvious, Time magazine’s editor gave a reason: his presence on news during all year and his ascent as president of USA during these “perilous” and “critical” times. He also added that the Time person of the year “energized Americans in a way that we haven’t seen in a long time,”

The photos you haven’t seen before of the Time person of the year 2008 are from years 79-81. This is a period that hasn’t been much mentioned in articles but it was very important for him since he became interested there in politics and public service.

If you are wondering who took those artistic photos of Obama wearing a hat back then, well, Time magazine says that it was Lisa Jack an aspiring photography at the time of the session.
