Miley Cyrus Vanity Fair Photos - I’ve never wrote so much about Miles Cyrus like in the past weeks. It seems the girl has found in photos a perfect way to market her… maybe to a more adult audience? This time there are not amateur pics from her mySpace but pictures taken for Vanity Fair magazine.

The pictures were taken by Annie Leibovitz one of the most famous celebrity photographers who has worked also with Angelina Jolie, Scarlett Johansson and who was responsible for the famous naked and pregnant Demi Moore photo.

In the magazine Miley appears in photos for an interview she and her dad Billy Ray Cyrus gave. There are pictures where she appears with her dad, but the one that is generating “embarrassment” on her is this one:

This is what she said about the picture:

“I took part in a photo shoot that was supposed to be ‘artistic’ and now, seeing the photographs and reading the story, I feel so embarrassed,” Cyrus said Sunday in a statement “I never intended for any of this to happen and I apologize to my fans who I care so deeply about.”

So… she posed for the picture and now she feels embarrassed… ok, well let’s see what her opinion was before Vanity Fair was on stores:

“I think it’s really artsy, It wasn’t in a skanky way. Annie took, like, a beautiful shot, and I thought that was really cool. That’s what she wanted me to do, and you can’t say no to Annie.”

What do you think? Is she making a new market out of racy photos?

    Wow, people are really taking this thing to far, she is 15, so of course she is gonna screw up a couple of times. Personally, I think that the picture is beautiful, and it’s only racy, if you look at it in a pervy way. And on the radio they said that she was wearing a nude coloured tube top, which you can’t really see, but hey, there is photoshop.

    Well, it took less time for the hollywhore to come out of the Cyrus clan. I hope Billy enjoys the cash from this photo shoot that turns his daughter into a whore - to think they want us to believe they did not get to see the final proofs in the rag before it went to print.

    Vanity Fair will make millions on this.

    Miley Cyrus is a beautiful 15 year old girl. She is going through the stage of becoming a woman. I love the picture. It’s gives us deeper look to the grown up Miley. I think people are making too much of a big deal on this photo. Beauty is beauty. And she had exactly that. This doesn’t consider her a slut or a whore! It also shouldn’t be a mistake. This is the best photo I think Miley has ever taken!!!!!

    Alright, so maybe it was a bad idea for Miley to pose in naught but a bedsheet. Perhaps Annie Leibovitz was in the wrong for not seeing beyond the ‘art’ of that shot. But the fact is, it’s done and done- the pics are published and right now, this issue of Vanity Fair has just been purchased by teenybopper girls, young men and creepy old guys, and the millions of others who want to see what the big deal is.

    And I can’t get a single flippin visitor to my deviantArt page .^_^.

    On the other hand, our resident “?” was way out of line with the useless comment, and Rev, while I respect your opinion and I’m not going to bash you for it- don’t you think you were a bit harsh in calling Miley a “Hollywhore”?

    They have successfully portrayed an incestuous relationship photographically. The “before” and “after” photos of an apparent “romp” that are shown on this page are disturbing at best. Everyone should focus less on Miley’s part in this and redirect culpability to her parent/manager/publicist. It is possible that this child is a victim of incest and the world is so desensitized that we not only fail to protect her, we are berating her for it. In any case she is a victim of Vanity Fair’s greed and disregard for her best interest or safety; at no point should this “renowned” photographer taken such erotic and sensual photos of a child. This could easily create stalkers in addition to changing how people perceive this sweet child. As a society we need to set limits to what we are willing to accept as art. Sexualizing our children is not something I am willing to support or accept, nor do I find it entertaining or artistic. If we do not buy the magazine, they will not exploit the next child-star beauty. As far as Billy Ray…he should be investigated thoroughly, along with his wife. We, as parents, have a duty to protect our children from harm, on this account they have failed terribly and possibly worse.

    i do not think these photos are racy. but i do not think that a 15 year old should be taking these pictures. she is still a child. wait until you are at least an adult. even if she wasn’t topless, it still gives the illusion that she is and that is not the image that a 15 year old should be presenting. she is only 15. sure. she will make mistakes but her parents should do something about this. she is not a kid anymore. why is she growing up so quickly. its insane

    I actually think that the 2nd picture is the most elegant picture that I have ever seen of Miley Cyrus. I am not really a fan, nor do I not like her…I just think she is there.
    With this photo in question, #2 above, it actually reminds me of the girl from Les Miserable.
    Congrats Miley on booking such an artistic photographer.

    First off people are forgeting what kind of society we are living in. Its a society where younger people are being exposed and have a better understanding of what exactly “racy” is. Most will even look at this pics and apsire to one day take photos like this. And lets not forget when you were 15, how your mind was thinking and acting. We’ve seen this before, young stars turning into adults right before our very eyes. I believe her parents have good judgement and knew what was going on at the time this happened. Yes she still is a minor, but also a person. No-one has any idea what’s going on in her head at this stage in her life. As for the photographer, I believe Annie had every intention on these being the best photos to represent her. Not to say the photographers always right, but Annie has had plenty of experiance and knows what the hell she’s doing. Lets not forget Miley is a growing person, and maybe these pictures help her with her transitions. Everybody will always have opinions, the main thing is taking what you did and making it your own. Wether these pictures are right or wrong, move on. A child star can’t remain a child forever…

    I have seen other photos done by this photographer and personally I think that she is a complete wierdo who has an abnormal obsession with taking naked pictures. Poor Miley was told that it was suposed to be atistic by someone who was a professional. If she had been about 10 years older no one would have made a fuss about it. The photographer is definitely the one to blame.

    I find it funny that people are making a big stink about this. In recent surveys 1/4 of girls say they had sex before they were sixteen. Also she lists Sex in the City as one of her favorite tv shows. People her age might not be old enough to have sex by societies standards but that does not stop them from doing it and with a very popular show about sex that girls look up to, it is not suprising that she took the pictures. When people are younger, half of what they want to do is be treated as adults and what is more adult than sex? For those that think it’s inappropriate, well I’d rather see a few questionable pictures of her then her being pregnant like Jamie Spears.

    ppl just leave her alone! the pics arent racy at all! like everyone else is saying, a bikini and a backless dress show more skin than this. i am an aspiring artist in both photography and in pencil and papaer or whatever terms i can put it into for u miley haters to understand, she is a beautiful girl and i have taken photos like these before of my friends just not as much skin. okay soo just leave her alone. and the picture of her and her dad arent creepy or disgusting. that pic actually turned out very well done and it goes to show what a good father and daughter relationship miley and billy ray have which most teenagers dont really have anymore with any of their parents today.     She is only 15. At the same time she is an idol to thousands of girls ranging from 3-14. She has a civic responsibility to project a tastful image. I don’t believe this is her fault. An adult should have said no to this. She is at an age where right and wrong are not always clear and so are all the young children who watch her.

    A fifteen year old girl convinced to take sexy, glamor shots. WOW! Who’s really surprised? The question is why would Annie even think to take those kinds of pictures of a 15 yr old girl. If we can look at it and see what they imply, you know everyone on that set who saw the pictures saw the same thing.
    Her parents mistake was leaving the shoot early and trusting strangers to guide their child. Vanity Fair could have chosen not to use the pictures, but if they cause a fuss and sell more pictures, of coarse they’re going to use them. She’s fifteen people ! The people who took and published the photos need to explain why they felt it was appropriate for a child. She’s 15! Yes she has a mind of her own. But maybe she wasn’t thinking the way all of the grown-ups judging her are thinking. Maybe she actually has the mind of a 15 year old and not an adult.
    And for all those who think their is something wrong with the father/daughter photo, I strongly disagree. Everyone chooses to see what they want to see. I see a daddy’s girl and a close bond. She’s leaning on his lap! Big WOOP! What in the world is sexual about that.
    Get your minds out the gutter!. Don’t take your relationship with your father and compare it to hers. Seriously people. Grow up!     And for those who don’t know what to teel there children……..tell them the Truth!
    She had a photo shoot. The photographer suggested the poses. Explain that she’s really not naked, they just made it look like she was. Explain that Miley realized that it was a mistake. Explain that she was too young and not appropriate for someone her age, but an adult should have stepped in instead of releasing the pictures. Explain to them that sometimes people don’t think things through before they act. That we are all human and we all make mistakes.
    But we have to learn to forgive and forget.
    SPEAK TO YOUR KIDS. I don’t care what’s going on in society. You shouldn’t be letting society raise your kids!

    This is Hollywood people things aren’t always what they seem. Sometimes there are strategies for the image of a celebrity. The common public would not agree on half of what is published, I’m sure. Check the ages of the models that seduce for most of your product purchases. Also, because the images were not contained properly, I’m sure they look a whole lot worse than they are meant to. However, the ‘just- out-of-bed’ picture is an example of a bad experiment and NOT age specific. The real problem is that this kind of advertisement is an example of marketing that has “worked” thus far in mainstream marketing - a young, sickly, make-up smeared portrayal of a female in a vulnerable position with her hair all dischelved, and kind of sad looking. I think that Miley is learning that the public prefers her over her alter ego. Despite this experiment, the truth is that the media has gotten to be so fast that sometimes, I think editing, clipping, and quick underground releases can create a monster.

    Are you crazy? Billy Ray and his wife have done an amazing job raising a young lady in the entertainment business. Miley generally has her head on straight, and although will make mistakes like everyone else, is a good kid!

    No, I wouldn’t have wanted my teenage daughter (who is 16 years old, by the way) to take the photo with the sheet, but I’ve seen MUCH less clothing on young starlets walking down the street in LA without a word about it in the press! People are making a HUGE deal out of a photo that, while too sexy, is very artistic and NOT raunchy. I think it was an error in judgement to let her pose in a sexual way, regardless of the “arthouse” factor, but these parents and this young lady have done A LOT right so far…and having an error in judgement is something that will happen from time to time when you’re dealing with the perfect balance between “tween star” and “young woman”. This photo at 18 would have been considered a tasteful movement into adulthood, and simply came too soon. I think Annie and her parents should have waited to do this type of shoot, but you’ve taken this way too far in accusing Billy Ray Cyrus of incest. Ever heard of “libel” lady???

    The fact that YOU saw these as “before and after” pictures of a “romp” with her dad suggests that YOUR mind is not right. Billy Ray is very close to his daughter because they share a bond as entertainers and as parent/child. She is a daddy’s girl, but not in the sick way you are suggesting. He would be appalled that anyone would suggest such a thing.

    You need to think before you comment on such things. I can guarantee you that at least one of your preteen/teen girls is going to make some type of HUGE mistake before they’re adults. When they do, I hope you people would know you have likely done your very best by them, and any mistakes they make are just life lessons that EVERYONE has to go through…not reflections of you and what sick things you MUST have afflicted upon them in their raising! Give Billy Ray and his wife the same consideration, especially when they’ve done a much better job of raising a daughter in the entertainment industry than most…and likely better than you yourself could do!

    1) Firstly: Actually, I think that photo is quite beautiful and lovely. I think it was very wise of the photographer to capture her at this one moment in her life in which she will never be again…a young woman on the verge of stardom as a young adult…this moment in Miley’s life will happen once, and never again…the photo is NOT pornographic…pornography is about exploitation, there is no exploitation in the photo, you can see girls her same age with less on just going to a beach or watching a day time soap opera in which actresses are behaving in provocative manners…this photo is pure and simple, elegant and classic…

    2) Secondly: There is nothing incestous about the pic of her and her father, not unless you are the one placing that there with your own mind. People tend to see what they want to see. I see a father that loves his daughter and I think the photo of them together is also quite lovely. The photographer did a wonderful job of capturing both of them.

    We all judge people according to how they act or what they say, but if most of us were to hear what others thought about us we would be ready to argue them to the bitter end. I myself am no exception to this. This is just an incident were many celebrities have been called out on mistake(s) because many people think celebrities are suppose to be classified as the perfect human being. (But nor I am not trying to say they as a celebrity they can/can’t keep them self from doing some of the things they do. Normal people do things they should(n’t) do, including me)

    To tell the truth we shouldn’t make them be perfect human being that we want them to be, but yet we do. By no means no one is perfect, He didn’t make us that way, we’re no better than the person whom we walk pass on the street or the person who has untold/told amounts of money behind him/her. Put yourself in her shoes (first comment in ones mind I wouldn’t take the picture or I would let my child do that.) Think about it if you where a celebrity and what if that something you did for the public was meant to be one way but was taken the another way and the public judged you for how it should have been. How would you feel towards it.

    I am not saying no one has their own opinion but think before you give it. (Not saying mine it the most well thought out comment ever) but at least think about it, would like others to say what you say or think to them to you.

    I am no means a scholarly writer but I hope people get the idea of what I am trying to say and ALSO I am not trying to offend anybody regarding agreeing or disagreeing to any of their opinions or who has or doesn’t have an religious views on anything, but I am saying this as a person who has seen others treat others in ways one would and wouldn’t like to be treated.

Yet you have to understand that she is not “showing her back” her pose is provocative, and she her eyes protray an adult look.     People freaking out about a 15 year old’s pictures that DON’T SHOW ANYTHING is a perfect example of this county’s sexual repression. I mean seriously…do we see anything remotely close coming out of european countries? No. And that’s because their views of sexuality aren’t so f’ed up and reformed.     As much air time this story has gotten you would think she posed for playboy naked or something. She isn’t showing anything but her back. It may be suggestive to some but they need to get over it and just not look at the pictures. What 6 & 7 year old read Vanity Fair anyways?     whether she’s “just 15″ or that “it’s only shows her back, what’s the big deal? Miley does have fans that are of waay younger age that looks up to her. I don’t think a 4 year old can learn anything good from a picture like that…plus, Miley is christian [excuse me for stating it publicly] and gushes proudly about her faith and as a christian…we should all know that even posing for a picture wearing just a bedsheet is waay unacceptable.

    Reading responses to the photo of Miley is really more intriguing then the photo itself. I wonder if some of you realize that your interpretation of her photo (post sex look/pedophilic/ slutty etc ) really shows more about the disturbing mind the person leaving the comment has. Do you hate her because she is pieces of you? Does this photo stir up some ‘inappropriate’ urges that you have?

    She is a 15 year old young woman, she is showing her back, she looks beautiful. This is not a nude photo, clearly this was a slow day in the news.

    For the love of God, North Americans need to loosen up, there is nothing to be ashamed of, this was not a mistake, this is a young woman who felt comfortable taking a photo of her pure beauty with a talented photographer, expressing herself thru the medium of photographic art.

    Perhaps you should all go take some art courses and see what ‘Art’ actually is. Don’t be afraid, we are all sexual, beautiful beings…maybe if you embrace that part of yourself, you won’t be quick to judge others that already can.

    Ty: Well I understand that Miley wants to be seen as an “older” type of character. I don’t blame her but the backless photo represents the media and what they allow today. Even though I am definetly not a fan of Miley Cyrus i’ll give her credit for taking such a classic and elegant photo. It is not provocative. It is artistic.     I personally find the second, ’scandalous’ photo extremely elegant, showing the beauty of a young woman.

    I am not a fan of Miley’s, I couldn’t care less about her entertainment persona. However, I find quite unjust (and slightly disturbing) the fact that people want her to remain the innocent, goofy, asexual, blonde wig-wearing Hannah Montana forever. She’s almost sixteen.
