Richard Widmark has passed away. He was 93 years old. Widmark was a famous actor that became known to millions of people after his portrayal of the psycopath Tommy Udo in the movie “Kiss of Death”.

The sad news were announced today by his wife Susan Blanchard. She also told that Richard Widmark had been suffering from a fractured vertebra in recent months.

The role as Tommy Udo won him an Academy award nomination, and he’s been always remembered for his role in the movie, critic David Thomson said about him:

“The sadism of that character, the fearful laugh, the skull showing through drawn skin, and the surely conscious evocation of a concentration-camp degenerate established Widmark as the most frightening person on the screen”
