Cantaloupe Recall Because of Salmonella

Beware, the FDA has issued a cantaloupe recall from an Honduran manufacturer because it is believed that the fruit may be infected with salmonella.  So far there have been reported outbreaks of this disease in 16 states:

Arizona, California, Colorado, Georgia, Illinois, Missouri, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Tennessee, Utah, Washington and Wisconsin.

The contaminated fruits are seeking to be banned, and hey come from Agopecuaria and Montelibano.  This is currently not limited not USA, the Canadian government has also issued a “Health Hazard Alert”

What is Salmonella?

The salmonella is a bacteria that once in the human body, it manifest in the form of:

  • Headache
  • Abdominal pain
  • Diarrhea
  • Nausea
  • Fever (almost always present)
  • Dehydration, especially in babies and older adults.

Grocery stores are ordered to take out these products of their shelves.  Those were the news on the cantaloupe recall.
