A tourist in Florida died this morning because of an spotted eagle ray attack. This occurred after the animal jumped into the boat the woman was in.

Her name was Judy Kay Zagorski, she would have never imagined something like this would happen. It must be one of the strangest deaths. She was on the boat going 25mph, when the animal popped out of the water, landing on the boat. The animal weighed about 75 pounds and had a wing span of about 5 feet according to Jorge Pino, spokesman for the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.

The father of Judy was driving the boat and he had no warning, he couldn’t just react fat enough. News don’t report if any kind of puncture was found I the woman, so it is likely that she died because of the impact, we will have to wait for an autopsy to get to know the causes.

Rays are common in Florida but they usually stay way from humans.

“Rays jump to escape a predator, give birth and shake off parasites,” said Lynn Gear, supervisor of fishes and reptiles at Theater of the Sea in Islamorada in the Florida Keys. “They do not attack people.”

This brings to memory the death of Steve Irwin, the popular “Crocodile Hunter” who died because of a ray attack. However this death seems to be a little different and for now it may sound like an accident, we’ll update the news as soon as more info arrives.
