British actor and Oscar winner Paul Scofield passed away today.  Scofield, 86, who won the Academy Award for “A Man of All Seasons” died of leukaemia in a hospital according to agent Rosalind Chatto.

Scofield was a man of theatre, he worked most of his life on important plays in England and even in New York where he won a Tony Award.  Even the role that gave him the Oscar was following up a successful play of “A Man of All Seasons” where he starred as Tudor statesman Sir Thomas More.

Those who knew him described him as a simple man, a talented actor and and “unusual” star.  In fact, he once offered a knighthood, but he declined:

“It is just not an aspect of life that I would want,” he once said. “If you want a title, what’s wrong with Mr.?”

We’ll miss his common sense and the passion he had with acting.  We can all learn a lesson of passion on what we do from this man.  Rest in peace Mr. Scofield.

Those were the news on Paul Scofield.
