Back when my 360 was still working, I had the opportunity to play a little of Rainbow Six Vegas.  Now the long-running franchise has added another chapter to the story with Rainbow Six Vegas 2.

This new version of the game has improved customization options, online modes and other improvements in gameplay.  The reviews of the game are pouring in, and I’m excited t try this game once I get back my 360.

Rainbow Six Vegas Reviews:

Videogamer.com : “While Rainbow Six Vegas 2 feels more like an add-on than a proper sequel, that shouldn’t stop you picking Ubisoft’s latest up. The gun-play is excellent, the production values are top notch and the multiplayer game modes will keep you coming back months down the line. As long as you’re not expecting a complete overhaul of the gameplay seen in the original, Vegas 2 will provide plenty of terrorist hunting fun.”

Kotaku: “Rainbow Six Vegas 2 is a fine addition to the Rainbow Six library, giving gamers a lot of new maps to stalk through, hunched over, with a buddy or on their own. What it doesn’t do, really, is introduce anything new to the formula. There are plenty of neat little tweaks and co-op play, while not fully drop-in, drop-out, is a fantastic addition. But in the end you’re still playing Rainbow Six Vegas, with the same look and feel as the original.”

Eurogamer.net: “Overall, Vegas 2 feels like an incremental expansion, despite the success of the character-creation feature. The annoying thing is that with a bit more investment these quickfire sequels would feel like true follow-ups, which would go a long way with those of us who’ve been following the series for the past ten years. As it is, we’ll still go to Vegas, but we’ll be grumpy on the way home.”

IGN: “As I said previously, the biggest problem that most will have with Vegas 2 is that it doesn’t differentiate itself enough from the first. It doesn’t feel like an expansion pack exactly–-it’s more than that–but it doesn’t feel like a full-fledged sequel either. For those who haven’t taken a stroll down the streets of Sin City than you needn’t look any further than Rainbow Six Vegas 2, but those looking for a sequel that surpasses the original in everyway imaginable will be disappointed.”
