Jeremiah Wright, Obama Pastor’s Words

Jeremiah Wright may be a new name to many of you. He is the pastor of Barack Obama’s Church and his words are being judged by millions after ABC News purchased copies of sermons.

In one of the videos of the sermons, Wright comments about Afro-Americans in the USA:

“the government gives them the drugs, builds bigger prisons, passes a three strikes law and then wants us to sing ‘God bless America,’ No, no, no, not ‘God bless America,’ God damn America — that’s in the Bible, you’re killing innocent people, God damn America for treating us citizens as less than human.”

He also has words about 9/11

“We bombed Hiroshima, we bombed Nagasaki, and we nuked far more than the thousands in New York and the Pentagon, and we never batted an eye. We have supported state terrorism against the Palestinians and black South Africans, and now we are indignant because the stuff we have done overseas is now brought right back to our own front yards. America’s chickens are coming home to roost.”

In the video he also talks about the Clinton’s campaign and compares Obama’s story to Jesus story. All of this of course brings opportunist who find everywhere excuses to attack Obama, although these words didn’t come form him. In response to the controversy, Barack Obama has distanced from the pastor, the New York Times quotes Senator Obama as stating that “the violence of 9/11 was inexcusable and without justification.”

To me what says Jeremiah Wright is a point of view that deals a lot with common sense. It is a reality that a lot of people are NOT happy with the way government treat them, specially minorities like black people and Hispanic people. About 9/11, what Obama pastor says has to do with the way many Americans and nearly all the International Community feel, although like Obama said, there’s no excuse for violence.
