Rick Sutcliffe Diagnosed With Cancer

ESPN’s Rick Sutcliffe has been diagnosed with cancer. Sutcliffe is a former Cy Young Award winner and National League rookie of the year. This is sad news, however there are good news, according to medical exams, this disease is treatable. He will undergo chemotherapy and surgery over the next months.
Sutcliffe joined ESPN back in 1999 appearing on baseball broadcasts. Now the network is replacing him fro Steve Phillips, but he is anxious and willing to get back to work as soon as he can.

“I deeply appreciate the support of the ESPN family and my family and friends around the country,” Sutcliffe said.
“Rick is an integral member of our baseball team and we wish him a full recovery,” said Tim Scanlan, ESPN vice president, event production. “We will keep him and his family in our thoughts and prayers.”
Let’s remember that Rick won the Cy Young award in 1984 with the Chicago Cubs and in 1979 he was named rookie of the year with Los Angeles Dodgers.
